Volunteer for a Critical Narcan Training Event
When – Saturday August 8th; 11:00 AM- 12:00 PM
Where – CHLA
What – On Saturday, August 8th, from 11AM – 12 PM, Dr. Lorraine Kelley-Quon (USC Associate Professor & CHLA Pediatric Surgeon) will lead a Narcan training event at the High School Youth Leadership Conference hosted by the CHLA. 11th and 12th graders will participate, learning how to recognize the signs of overdose, understand the dangers of fentanyl, and administer lifesaving Narcan.

Clinical Spanish Foundations Program (Fall 2026)
When – Monday August 17th; 5:00 PM- 6:30 PM
Where – LC103A
What – Clinical Spanish Foundations is a student-led, semester-long program for *first-year* medical students with intermediate Spanish proficiency or higher who want to strengthen their ability to communicate with Spanish-speaking patients. The program will meet in person on Mondays or Wednesdays from 5:00–6:30 PM (depending on the week) and will include structured instruction, clinical vocabulary, and simulated patient-encounter practice. JWCH Dermatology Volunteer Clinic
When – Tuesday August 18th; 4:45 PM - 8:00 PM
Where – JWCH Clinic DTLA
What – Join the monthly JWCH/USC Dermatology Volunteer Clinic, where medical students help support free dermatologic care for underserved patients while gaining exposure to dermatology visits, skin exams, procedures, and precepting with residents/attendings. All years are welcome, carpool may be available, and no prior dermatology experience is required. To be considered, please complete the required volunteer interest/onboarding form here.

OSECA x ASSM SIG Leaders Fall Meeting #1
When – Tuesday, August 4th from 12-1pm
Where – Hoyt Gallery
What – Mandatory meeting for Student Leaders of returning and new SIGs (at least one officer from each SIG but more are encouraged to attend)! RSVP here as food will be provided. Training on how to secure ASSM, GSG, and OSECA funding as well as leadership development and how to access logistical support will be a few of the topics covered.

To improve school-wide communication amongst all classes, ASSM has launched a new Discord for everyone to join. Utilize this server to post SIG announcements, connect with fellow students, and more! We will also be using it as a way to post ASSM announcements as well.
